Heirloom Albums
Today I would like to shine the spotlight on one of my favorite products - The Photo Album. The oldest known photo albums are in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and date back to the 1850s. Very often, each page of an album was intricately decorated with foliage, gold leaf, and embossing. With the digital age, the importance of a family album has seemingly been replaced by the better phone that has a better camera. Where has it gotten us? To a point where our phones are filled with years of precious moments, we desperately wanted to hold on to, only to lose them in the massive amount of data stored on all of our devices. Quite often, we stumble upon those moments when we get a reminder of a photograph we posted to social media a year ago on this day.
Let me tell you, there is nothing quite as satisfying as opening an album filled with your loved ones' beautiful faces. especially during the holidays, we like to get them out and page through them and hear the children ask questions about their grandparents, giggle over daddy sitting in the stroller on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the park or mommy with her Janis Joplin sunglasses, bell-bottom jeans, and embroidered linen tunic (yes, I should have been born 15 years earlier, LOL.)
Seeing and talking about family, the way they were, the way they are now, and the way they might be in the future - reminiscing is a beautiful and important thing to do.
