When you work as a photographer in Los Angeles, it's a sure thing that you are going to work with clients who work in the movie industry. When your client is an attorney, who works for Disney, well, then you try and incorporate that into their family portrait session.
I have to admit that I did not know how to prepare for this one. In my many years working as a camera assistant, I only worked on Disney's backlot in Burbank one single time, and that was over ten years ago. It's not like you can just walk in and location scout. Well, this session couldn't have turned out any better!
Our location gave the session an urban feel, and we got to take advantage of many amazing architectural features such as historic buildings, doorways, archways, steps, and benches. When a family has this much fun having their portraits taken, it almost doesn't matter where you are. We walked, we ran, we played tag! Having fun is the main goal for all my sessions, in the studio as much as on location. I want kids to be kids, and I'm just along for the ride.
Casual wardrobe choices work well for this kind of setting.
This family needed no help with styling, they knew exactly what they wanted, and it turned out perfectly. No one is trying to match the other, but they coordinate their choice of clothing well. It works as a group, in pairs and for photographs of each one individually.
I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into their family portrait session.
We had so much fun creating these memories.
